1969 Dr. Margaret Patterson (MBE, MBChB,
FRCS Edinburgh) developed a form of CES called NeuroElectric
Therapy (NET™) that controlled and modulated
CES output waveforms in such a manner as to rapidly
and effectively detoxify human patients from addictive
substances, including heroin, cocaine and other illicit
substances, methadone, nicotine and alcohol.
